So I won't ever forget to not drink soda near my precious angel again

I give you the yesterdays Tale of Woe.

So, as you well know, and is well-documented, I am something of a
klutz/ moron when it comes to certain things.

Well, last night I came upstairs, with my bag, computer and a bottle
of soda. I put them on my bed, as I have done a thousand times and
went to the bathroom. I come back in and I see my soda is spilled all
over my comforter. Quickly, I looked to my computer *whew* it didn't
spill on it. So I pick it up to check; strange it was wet on the
bottom- oh well, so I clean up the little soda there. Then I open it
up. Doesn't go on, it should since it was in "sleep" mode. Push the
power button. Nothing. No power light, no screen goes on.

Did the battery die? Wait whats that....... OH DEAR GOD ITS LEAKING
OUT OF THE CD DRIVE!!!!! I then turn my precious angel on its side in
a vain attempt to get out the vile liquid from inside. I moved to the
floor so that it drips onto a nearby towel. I think I just starred at
it for several minutes. Then I ran to the closet looking for the box
the computer came it, with all the warranty information.

Praino is freaking by now and doesn't know what to do. In some blur I
clean my bed of the soda soaked sheets. As I get to the laundry room I
decide to tell my mom, whose room is next door. It wasn't late so I
assumed she was up. I go in and try to talk but it all comes out a
hysterical mess. My mom thought someone had died the way I carried on.
My dad yelled and I said something bitchy to him then ran back to my
room.

I then sat down and proceeded to cry. There are few things I cry
about; sometimes my shows make me cry or movies, but usually I can
deal with real life ok. Yea, no, this was my electrical child and it
felt like it had been killed by shaking baby syndrome or something.
My sainted mother then came in and comforted me in my great distress.
We then found the warranty- which she got to last until 2010. She got
the good once since my last computer also had an incident with my
just-dumped-brother, his fist and the screen.

Good side is the battery is not dead. I took it out last night because
I didn't want the computer to explode in my sleep. it was blinking
today, so thats good. And I just moved a bunch of stuff to my external
(which I got super cheap at the now defunct Circut city).

But still, greatly upset. Mom was working in Quincy today so she is
going to stop by the Apple Store and see what can be done.

There ends my tale. Words of comfort of somewhat needed/demanded.

Love Praino

ETA: Luckily for Praino her mac will rise again- in 7-10 business days. It is currently on its way to the computer hospital (which reminded me of the American Doll Hospital- thus the pic) to gt itself all put together, literally and figuratively.

Also note I used my old computer last night- it goes online, but I totally forgot 1/2 the keys don't work. It had a a late-night run-in with chocolate milk during finals week Dec '07. Yup, I m like a serial killer of computers.

And now, a moment of silence...

Well, ladies, whilst talking with Praino this afternoon, I heard the terrible news that great-uncle Jack (aka, Nubbins) has passed on. Now, while this is, of course, a very sad occassion, the Praino family never fails make ALL situations lulz worthy. Highlights (in Praino speak):

omg so let me tell you how inappropriate my family is...
so my great-uncle jack (aka the one who had 6 fingers) died and his funeral was yesterday. so my aunt goes out of the home and says "Hmm it looked like they gave Jack some fingers." (we dont think they actually gave him fingers, just strategically folded his hands)...
then at the cemetery they gave out carnations to put on the casket- my dad turns to my mom and goes "hey kathy happy valentines day." my aunt literally hit him. they were so bad....
oh and at the church the priest was old and kept drifting off when talking and awkwardly stopping. then he had this piece of paper w/ a quote on it, and he stopped- my mom whispered to me 'Oh dead lord, i bet there is nothing on that page." my family is very, very bad...

So, while we do need to take a moment to mourn the loss of the creepy little nubbins, I think it would be more appropriate to indulge in the lulz...

This is partly why I hate grad school....

You may be asking why this video was made and where that song came from. Good questions ladies. I commend your thoughtfulness on the matter. These are the other Teaching Assistants that I work with, and my director. They made up this song while presenting at a conference for the Basic Course (think the public speaking/intro class at BSC). They sang this after dinner at a professional conference. I was not at the conference. My lack of caring about ever teaching has paid off immensely for I will never be associated with this mess (other than producing it, but note that my last name is not there) and I have a fair chance at having a respectable professional career in the future.

If you thought that first one was something, I'm sure you all LOVED this one. Again, I am thankful I hate teaching enough to boycott the conference that is all about teaching.

Why be the producer? Because I got to make this.

Thoughts, comments, reactions - go ladies!

I was watching and hoping a corgi would win their group and get to go to the best in show. But they picked some fug thing. Scarlett does not approve this choice.

Are we still friends?

Yes, you read that title correctly. It's the title to my new research project. The FULL title is: Are we still friends? Maintaining long-distance friendships.

Can you perhaps guess what inspired this research topic? You are correct. The Entourage. Be prepared to be involved in this research. You get to talk to me. It'll be great. I miss you lovely ladies so much, it inspired me to incorporate you all into my newest project.

Let me know what you think about this. Keep in mind I'm forced to do a qualitative project and have to do something this semester that researches something. I figured you ladies would be more fun to research than anything else. Plus I miss you so terribly.
